Amar'e Out for 6 Weeks...

The Knicks are expected to announce today that Amar'e Stoudemire will miss up to 6 weeks with no real timetable for a return because of his fucked up knee. This injury wasn't supposed to be serious, but it now appears that Stat could miss an extended period of time. This is obviously not good news mostly because there is probably not anyone that can fully replace him at power forward.

At the same time though, this dude has been consistently in and out of the lineup dealing with injuries for awhile now, and there's a chance that his absence could bring up the debate of whether he should be coming off the bench when he returns.

Although I don't think this is a realistic proposition simply based on how much money he's being paid, it seems to make a lot more sense. Stat & Melo have had trouble meshing together on the court, and that will not get any easier by throwing Amar'e back into the starting 5 mid-season. I think Melo could also play much better offensively at the power forward position in Amar'e's absence, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I do really hope Stat can make a strong comeback from injury, but I'm getting the feeling that his knee could be troubling him for awhile to come. Anyways, as stated previously, the Knicks season starts this Thursday at the Barclays Center against the Brooklyn Nets, so LET'S GO KNICKS!!!
