Knicks Mid-Season Report...

This is obvi the REAL Reason Why We're Losing. Bitch cursed us.

So I realize we are past the mid-season point technically speaking, but I'm going to use that term for this post because I am who I am. There was a shit ton of hype around this season for the Knicks. Melo & Stoudemire were to have their 1st full season together, the Knicks stole the defensive giant Tyson Chandler away from the Dallas Mavericks, and Jeremy Lin arose from the depths of nowhere to put this team back on. If it were two weeks ago, I'd tell you that the Knicks were back, ready to climb up the Eastern Conference standings, and make a serious run in the playoffs. But it is now, and the Knicks are reverting back to the place they were at before the run they made with Lin. It is really breaking my fucking heart to say the least. Let me speak on this return to a state of disaster.

Let's first speak on what everyone was speaking of prior to Anthony's return from injury, which was how Anthony would mesh with Lin's offensive style. So far, it doesn't seem to be flowing consistently. The times when Anthony is meshing with this offense, the Knicks look unstoppable, but he's had alot of strange off-nights, and it has everyone puzzled as to what the fuck is really going on. This team played so well without Melo & Stat because they were being unselfish. They were distributing the ball around, finding open shots, and players were allowed to develop their valuable roles (a.k.a. Novak hitting 3s like his life depends on it).

And more importantly they were playing DEFENSE, something that is usually unheard of in D'antoni's teams. Tyson Chandler has been a big part of that, and smooches to him. But, watching a game like the one the Knicks lost last night to the Bucks, makes it clear that the Knicks are still a mess. Their defense was absolutely atrocious and it's probably because of the absence of Chandler in some ways. And that is NOT ok. These dudes need to learn how to play defense on a consistent basis individually, or else this current 4 game losing streak will never end. Some plays I watched last night made it seem as if they weren't even trying on the defensive end. Shit needs to change. And if it doesn't, it seems as though D'antoni needs to go first, and then possibly Melo or Stat.

Also, Linsanity has seemed to die down a bit, which is to be expected. Jeremy Lin is an extremely talented young player, but emphasis on young. This is only his first season being put in this type of role, and I think the Knicks should consider allowing Baron Davis to start, and letting Lin come off the bench. Lin tends to turn the ball over too many times, and watching a veteran like Davis do his thang could definitely aid in Lin's development as a player.

The Knicks are now 18-22 and losing hold on the final playoff spot in the east with the Bucks now right behind them. Shit can get even uglier for them pretty soon due to the fact that their schedule is going to remain tough. They're going to have to find a way to get it together soon unless they want the city of NY to riot outside of Madison Square Garden. There is absolutely no excuse for the way they are playing and the amount of talent they have on this team. It will be interesting to see what takes place in the next month. Anyways, smooches.
